SKIN NEEDLING / CIT
Skin Needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), presents an innovative natural approach to enhancing skin texture, smoothing wrinkles, fine lines, and softening scars. This treatment is suitable for all skin types and can be applied to various areas, including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.
The procedure involves the use of a surgical-grade instrument equipped with stainless steel micro-needles ranging from 0.5mm to 1.5mm in length, and up to 2mm for scar treatment. Throughout the session, a combination of hyaluronic acid and colostrums gel is applied to hydrate the skin and minimize fine lines. These products are available for purchase after the treatment.
Skin Needling stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother and tighter skin. By creating only microscopic punctures in the epidermis, this minimally invasive procedure causes minimal damage to the skin’s outer layer. Consequently, collagen production occurs more rapidly compared to some more aggressive treatments.
WHAT SKIN TYPES ARE SUITABLE FOR THIS TREATMENT?
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Typically, a minimum of three treatments is necessary to achieve optimal rejuvenation for a specific area. For scarring, a higher range of 5-6 treatments is generally recommended. These treatments are spaced 5-6 weeks apart.
WHEN WILL WE SEE RESULTS?
WHEN IS SKIN NEEDLING TREATMENT NOT SUITABLE?
Avoid this treatment within two weeks of having an injectable dermal filler or Botox. It should not be performed on raised moles, warts, or lesions. During pregnancy (except when breastfeeding), the treatment is not recommended. Inform your therapist of any medications, as some may affect healing time. The treatment is not performed during an active herpes or acne breakout; however, it can proceed once resolved after a 2-week period. Individuals with certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, require a medical certificate.
THE SKIN NEEDLING TREATMENT EXPLAINED
The skin is cleansed, and depending on the skin condition, quick microdermabrasion may be performed. Numbing cream is applied for 20-30 minutes to minimize discomfort, usually rated by clients as 2-3 out of 10. Treatment involves needling each area about 15 to 20 times, with even flushing indicating a successful medical-grade procedure. Skin may appear flushed (pink to red) for an average of 12 to 24 hours. The entire treatment takes approximately 45 minutes, with a recommended total appointment time of 90 minutes.
