MICROBLADING / EYEBROW FEATHERING
Wake Up Make Up
Microblading, also known as Eyebrow Embroidery, falls under the category of permanent makeup, although it is less invasive and considered semi-permanent compared to traditional cosmetic tattooing. The typical duration of microblading results is 1-3 years, dependent on factors like skin type and skincare routine.
During the procedure, a hand tool equipped with ultra-fine needles is utilized to delicately etch each ‘hair’ into the skin, resulting in an incredibly natural and realistic appearance. Microblading is particularly effective for correcting or fully reconstructing lost eyebrows. It proves beneficial for individuals looking to enhance their brows or those with minimal to no eyebrows, as well as those with thinning brows due to aging or over-tweezing.
Pigments selected for microblading are tailored to match the natural or desired brow color, taking into consideration the client’s skin tone. This technique provides a precise and natural-looking solution for eyebrow enhancement.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The initial Microblading session typically takes about 1.5 – 2 hours. During this time, the brow technician shapes and styles the client’s brows for approval, followed by pigment color selection. Once the client is satisfied, the procedure begins. A follow-up visit for minor touch-ups is recommended 4-6 weeks later, lasting approximately 1 – 1.5 hours.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
After the procedure, the eyebrow area may appear slightly red, and the color will initially appear very dark. This is normal and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% during healing, with slight scabbing in the following days. It takes about 7-14 days for the brows to heal, and around 1 month for the color to fully set. The color may seem light initially due to the healing milk skin, revealing the true color once fully healed.
IS THE TOUCH UP SESSION NECESSARY?
Yes, a touch-up session after 4-6 weeks is crucial, considering individual healing variations. Certain areas may need refilling, pigment color adjustments, additional strokes, or increased brow thickness. Oily skin individuals may require a deeper shade during the touch-up as oils tend to lighten the pigment. The touch-up refines the brows for a perfect look, ensuring color retention throughout the year.
CAN I GET MY TOUCH UP SESSION SOONER THAN 4 WEEKS?
Touch-up sessions should not be scheduled earlier than 4 weeks after the initial microblading session. This time allows the pigment color to settle into the skin and prevents potential scar damage, as the tissue requires complete healing.
IS IT PAINFUL?
The discomfort level during the procedure is generally considered mild to nonexistent. To ensure your comfort, the brow technician will apply a topical anesthetic before and during the procedure. Responses to anesthetic vary, with some clients describing sensations ranging from light cat scratches to feeling nothing. Topical anesthetics may include lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine. Post-procedure, slight redness and swelling are normal, with the area feeling akin to light sunburn. Clients can use Tylenol, avoiding aspirin or ibuprofen.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Microblading pigments, not deeply implanted like traditional tattoos, naturally fade over time. Typically lasting 1-3 years, factors such as skin type, age, and skincare routine influence the duration. Regular maintenance, recommended every 12-18 months, helps keep the brows looking fresh. Although microbladed areas can fade naturally, a faint shadow may persist.
Pre and Post-Care Procedures:
For optimal results, adhere to pre and post-care instructions. Before the procedure, avoid alcohol, aspirin/ibuprofen, and tanning for 72 hours. No face scrubs or chemical peels two weeks before, and arrive with brow makeup for the technician to understand your preferred look. Post-procedure, clean brows within 2 hours, apply healing balm for 5-7 days, avoid water immersion for 14 days, and refrain from makeup application for at least 10 days.
Who is Not Suitable for the Procedure
Microblading is not suitable for those on Accutane, with heart conditions, diabetes, skin diseases, recent Botox, recent tanning or chemical peels. Allergies to specified anesthetic components and serious medical conditions may require a physician’s note. Pregnant or nursing clients should consult a doctor, and the decision to microblade during this period is a personal choice
Risks and Complications
With sterilized equipment and proper precautions, risks are minimal if pre and post-care instructions are followed. Allergic reactions are rare, but a pigment patch test is recommended for sensitive individuals. This test should be performed 5-7 days prior for those sensitive to topical makeup products, gold, silver, nickel, and hair dyes.
WHAT IF I DO NOT LIKE IT?
As with any cosmetic procedure, decisions should be considered carefully. Research, understanding the process, and reviewing artists’ portfolios are crucial. Brow technicians strive to achieve client satisfaction, addressing shaping concerns during the procedure. Uneven appearance or pigment discoloration can be rectified during the touch-up session. Microbladed brows fade naturally if additional touch-ups are not performed.
